Tehama County Superior Court is proud to announce that the Self Help Assistance and Referral Program (SHARP) has been unanimously awarded the 2008 National Association for Court Management’s Justice Achievement Award. The Justice Achievement Award was established in 1988 to recognize outstanding achievement and meritorious projects that enhance the administration of justice. Open to judiciaries worldwide, it is organized annually by the National Association for Court Management, with membership of more than 2,000 court management professionals worldwide. This year a total of 25 projects were nominated. All of the nominated projects were extremely innovative and addressed the problems that face the nation’s courts. The SHARP program is a regional project sponsored and developed by Butte, Glenn, and Tehama County Superior Courts to address the needs of litigants who choose to represent themselves yet need assistance in preparing legal documents and navigating the court system. The SHARP program centers are designed to give self-represented litigants assistance with access to legal information. The award was bestowed at the National Association for Court Management’s annual conference on July 15 in Anaheim, California.
